How It Started
1.13 Candle Company was born out of a simple truth: the right scent can change everything. What began as a personal obsession with creating the perfect candle for our own home quickly turned into something bigger — a women-owned small business built on intention, craftsmanship, and love poured into every pour.
The name 1.13 carries meaning close to our heart. It's a reminder that every day is a fresh start, a date that marks a turning point, and a number that grounds us in purpose. When you light one of our candles, you're invited into that same sense of presence and intention.

Every candle, wax melt, and body care product we make is handcrafted in small batches. That means no assembly lines, no shortcuts, and no mass-produced anything. We mix, pour, test, and refine each formula ourselves — because we believe you deserve something made with real care, not just convenience.
Our process is slow on purpose. We take time to get the scent throw right, the burn clean, and the wax smooth. We test our candles the way you'll burn them — in real spaces, real temperatures, and real life.
Where the Scents Come From
Our fragrances are inspired by moments — the warmth of a Sunday morning, the comfort of a familiar kitchen, the freshness after a rainstorm, the cozy feeling of settling in for the night. We're not chasing trends. We're chasing feelings.
Every scent we choose goes through rounds of testing before it makes it into a product. If it doesn't feel like something we'd burn in our own home, it doesn't make the cut.

One Thirteen is driven towards creating intentional fragrances that align with your childhood memory or alongside a newly created one. Not only do we want to create products for the moment, but also for those moments of self. Self-reflection, self-esteem, self-confidence.
Hi, first let's start off with a little "get to know me" section. Also, we're now friends, so LETS TALK!! My name is Jasmine, but I prefer "Jas". I am a wife, Girl Mom x2, dog mom x2 & previous accountant - whew a house full, right? I am now a SAHM with both of my girls. I was born and raised in CLT, NC, but we recently moved about 30 minutes out from there. I love all things fragrance, DIY projects, brunch, strawberry margaritas (with sugar on the rim), football, volleyball and R&B music. I've always loved candles - I was a huge consumer of other named businesses to the point where I had 5 of the same fragrance with different seasonal labeling. (This is a no judgement zone, right?) My passion for candles was inspired by becoming a mommy the first time around, but we'll get into that story a little later. I love a good smelling room, house, bathroom, car, you name it, I NEED IT. So when I am selecting fragrances and testing my formulas, I have high expectations for the candles I make. I prefer for my candles' fragrance to feed into the hallway or into other spaces, it's a confirmation that the hot throw is amazing. To sum it up, my customers will receive the best work & products possible.
Now let's get into the bread and butter of One Thirteen. Just a FYI - One Thirteen is my birthday. *Capricorns are THE BEST* I created One Thirteen during my first postpartum journey with my daughter. Not going to lie, it wasn't the easiest & there wasn't a path to follow in order to navigate that space. As mothers we always hear, "It's not about you anymore, it's about the kids", but I am not a believer in that. We as mothers (or parents), we are just as important & MATTER. Especially to the little ones that are now a part of our lives, so therefore we must show up for them as our best self. To find a space for ME, I carved out time during nap times and independent play by building a business centered around what I enjoy and not anyone else. Don't get me wrong, my family motivates me, but I had to demand my own in this world of sharing.
Before we move on, let me introduce the other half of the duo, my husband Michael. My anchor in this small business world. He is my soundboard when my head is full of thoughts, my financial advisor when I’m looking to make changes for my brand & my biggest supporter when I’m a little disappointed in my sales. (Btw, you can’t have him.) He is sometimes the face of the brand when I need a break, when I need to jump into mommy mode, or when I just want to walk around & shop other small businesses as well. He is the ONE person that will make sure everyone knows about One Thirteen - handing out business cards, taking products to work & using them at every opportunity he gets. Thanks Honey for your limitless love, support & free labor !
To the little voices you may hear from time to time during events - thank you for hanging with me some days - seeing mommy at work while trying to build a better life & thank you for your grace & patience as we navigate this new journey.
After taking back time for myself & digesting the satisfaction, it motivated me to create that same space for our customers. Whether you visit us in person at a market or receive our products in the mail, we want to be memorable. If you receive our products in the mail, you will receive a handwritten note including affirmations. In person, you are automatically accepted as family. You are greeted with full smiles, little voices, sometimes R&B music and hopefully you are leaving with your next favorite product.
